Ce catalogue a été édité à l'occasion de l'exposition Exhibition Road, Painters at the Royal College of Art, organisée en mars-avril 1988 par l'Ecole d'Art londonienne à l'occasion de la célébration de son 150e anniversaire.
Exhibition Road celebrates the Royal College of Art's distinguished contribution to the British painting in the 20th century. Based on an exhibition held at the College, it brings together the work of the college's most famous pupils and teachers, artists who were students at the College being represented by a student painting and a representative later work.
From the resulting series of juxtapositions emerges a stimulating and original view of the development of modern British Art.
Artists include Edward Burra, John Piper, John Bratby, Bridget Riley, Frank Auerbach, Peter Blake, Malcolm Morley, David Hockney, R.B. Kitaj and Patrick Caulfield.
